Our Shine a Light on Lung Cancer fundraisers are fundamental to helping us achieve our mission of funding life-changing research and support services for people living with lung cancer. Find out more about the inspiring community champions that are working to support this mission.

Rick's story

Rick connected with Lung Foundation Australia after his wife was diagnosed in 2011. Over the past eight years, he has become a passionate advocate and has supported Lung Foundation Australia’s efforts to make a difference in the lung cancer space. Rick hosts Shine a Light on Lung Cancer fundraising events to help fund life-changing research and support services for Australians impacted by lung cancer. Throughout the year, Rick hosts several local historical walks in and around Mitcham, South Australia. Rick says, “it’s a really fantastic feeling to know that I’m raising funds for lung cancer and those funds are going to hopefully cure lung cancer”.

Bev's story

This year, Bev will host her third Shine a Light on Lung Cancer event – something she holds close to her heart. Bev’s son Lachlan was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2012 at just 20 years old. On her first event, Bev reflected, “it was so good to have the event because it just gave us such a sense of community and we felt really supported by that”.
